White Sands National Park, New Mexico

White Sands National Park is the newest national park as of this posting as it was given that status in 2019 from just being a national monument.

One can slide down the sand dunes on sleds here.  The sand is gypsum.

Driving on the sand is a little challenging.

The park has these covered picnic areas to keep one cool from the hot sun.  It looks like one is on another planet!

    Tombstone, AZ is famous for the gun fight that took place at the OK Corral where the Earp brothers took on some renegade Cowboys with the help of Doc Holliday, a dentist in town.  Tombstone was the most populated city in the west at one point, and there was lots of money there thanks to the silver mines.  Today, the town is preserved well and shows tourists how life was like back in the Wild, Wild West!
