I arrived really late into Phoenix so I decided to stay at the Hilton
Garden Inn-Phoenix Airport on the first night. They had me in a 1
bedroom suite, and they left this bag full of goodies for me since I am
a Hilton Honors Diamond member.
I went to the Rangers facility on the first full day of my trip to
attend a Rangers-A's game. It was not baseball weather! The
temperatures were in the 50s, and it was overcast!
Our $75M man, Ian Kinsler, is practicing before the game started.
The Oakland A's can't even muster up that much for their whole team's
payroll! LOL. I hate Oakland!
My seats were right behind home plate so I had a great view of all the
action.
My Rangers ended up winning the game by a score of 4 to 3! Go
Texas!
I stayed at the Homewood Suites by Hilton near the Biltmore area on the
2nd night. They upgraded me to the fireplace suite since I am a
Diamond member.
My friends and I went to the Giants-Brewers game at the Maryvale
Baseball Stadium in Phoenix on the 2nd day after having a nice lunch at
La Pinata. I am sporting my new Rangers Spring Training shirt.
They had one of my favorite beers at the Brewer's game. It is
called Summer Shandy, and it is not available year round. I had
it on tap when I was on a brewery tour in Milwaukee a few years ago.
They had the sausage races at the game too.
I stayed at the Hilton Phoenix East/Mesa on the final night of this
trip. Since I am Hilton royalty with my Diamond status, they
upgraded me to a Jr. 1 Bedroom Suite on the Executive Floor.
Their resort style pool was amazing! The water was like bathwater.
The management sent up some warm brownie bites for me upon my
arrival. They were not bad. Of course, I also had access to
the Executive Lounge for the complimentary happy hour and breakfast too!
I decided to go out to
Spring Training in Phoenix, AZ again in 2013 to see my Texas
Rangers. I flew out there on a Friday, and I stayed until
Monday. The weather was not as good this time as it was last
year. I decided to stay at three different Hilton properties
since I was going to be all over the area for different games, and also
I wanted to get the extra stay credits to maintain my Diamond
status. I had a suite at all three of the properties.
On Saturday, I attended
the main game that I wanted to go to. The Rangers play in
Surprise, AZ at our facility there for our home games during the Cactus
League. We took on the A's that Saturday, and we had most of our
starters playing for us including Kinsler, Beltre, our new DH Berkman,
and our new catch A. J. Pierzynski. We did not have any
starting pitching that day however. The weather was terrible that
day too. It was overcast and cold! I got to the ballpark
early so I could go to the Rangers store to get some new gear. I
also got a nice Ranger's sign for my garage that said "Texas Rangers
Reserved Parking!" We ended up winning the game that day! I
saw a homeurn too. The #1 prospect in the MLB, Profar, was also
playing that day for us. After the game, I went to Happy Valley
to get a massage at my original Massage Envy club where I signed up for
my membership during a work trip to Phoenix a few years ago. I
stayed in the Biltmore area of Phoenix that night in a 1 bedroom
fireplace suite at the Homewood Suites.
On Sunday, I joined my
friends for a Giants-Brewers game in Phoenix at the Brewers
facility. I was happy to see they had one of my favorite beers,
Summer Shandy, on tap there. Afterwards, I checked into my 1
bedroom suite at the Hilton Phoenix East/Mesa and enjoyed the resort
style pool and amenties there before having dinner with my friends at
Oregano's in Tempe.
