Pocitelj, Bosnia-Hercegovina

P1
Here is a view of the old Ottoman Fortress from the bottom of the mountain.

P2
It was quite a hike to climb up to see some of the ancient structures up close.

P3
Here is the minaret from the old Mosque in Pocitelj.

P4
The stairs were steep and made of stone.  I was thinking to myself that maybe an old Sultan from the Ottoman Empire climbed these very same steps once!

I did a one day tour of the Hercegovina part of Bosnia-Hercegovina when I was visiting the Makarska Riveria in Croatia.  Bosnia is not too far from the Croatian coast.  Our first stop on the tour was an old Ottoman Fortress called Pocitelj.  It was built around the late 14th century by a Bosnian king.  The Ottomans used it as a fortress once they conquered this area.
