Lisbon (Lisboa), Portugal

1
Lisbon is known for buildings with these beautiful tiles on the exterior.  They allow the homes to not need paint since the humidity would ruin the paint very quickly.

2
Portugal has these beautiful mosaic tiled sidewalks.  Lisbon has really cool alleys like this.

3
Often times, there are local restaurants in the alleys.

4
Attending a Fado dinner is a great way to immerse into Portuguese culture.  A female singer sings beautiful songs as one eats a traditonal Portuguese meal.

5
Lisbon is very beautiful day or night.

6
Funiculars like this one take people up and down the many hills in Lisbon.  Lisbon has a lot of graffiti, but it is a safe city.

7
Lisbon has many Michelin star restaurants.  The owner of this speakeasy style restaurant called Mini-Bar has three Michelin stars.  We loved his other restaurants!

9
The Tower of Belem stood guard at the mouth of the Tagus River to protect the city.

10
The Tower of Belem was amazing to go explore.  On the otherside of the bank, there was another tower so they could have crossfire on any enemy ship.  That tower did not make it.

12
The Maritime Museum is part of the famous San Geronimos Monastery.  It was an amazing structure!

11
The maritime museum showcased how the Portuguese explored so much of the world and colonized parts of South America, Africa, and even Asia!

13
The 25th of April Bridge looks like the Golden Gate Bridge in SF, and the statue on the other side is modeled after Christ the Redeemer in Brazil.

Lisbon is the beautiful capital city of Portugal on the Iberian Peninsula in Europe.  This historic city boasts amazing architecture, mosaic tiled sidewalks, numerous Michelin star restaurants, and a vibrant night life.  In June, they had street parties all month as they celebrate the feast day of their patron saint, St. Anthony.  Belem is a part of Lisbon which has many historic buildings including the Tower of Belem.  Also, Belem is famous for inventing the Portuguese dessert, the "Nata."  They are so delicious!
