This is the Hawa (Wind) Mahal in the old city of Jaipur.  It has many little windows in it.  In the old days, women were not allowed to go out in public without being covered up so they would look out these little windows to see what was going on in the outside world.

This is the Jal (water) Mahal.  It is built in a lake.

This is one of the gates to the old city of Jaipur.  Jaipur is known as the "pink city" because all the buildings are the color of the gate.

Here is the Amber Fort outside the city of Jaipur.  It was also a palace.  Amber Fort was built in  1592.

Here is a gate inside the Amber Fort.  There are strong Mughal influences in the architecture in Jaipur.

    The City of Jaipur is the capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan.  It is located in Northwestern India.  The city has many historic palaces and structures that were built hundreds of years ago.  They are quite spectacular!
