The Ball Court @ Chichen Itza (platform where the king would sit)

CI5
The Ball Court Field - the contestants had to hurl a ball through the hole in the middle of the structure without using their hands.  The winning team was killed as a sacrafice.

CI6
This is a hut where the common people would live.  Chichen Itza is in the middle of a jungle.  We saw iguanas, but no jaguars or poisonous animals.

One of the dancers that entertained us at the buffet lunch before we started our tour.  The food was pretty good.

Chichen Itza is an old Mayan settlement that dates all the back to 400 AD.  The main pyramid was recently named one of the 7 new wonders of the world.  The pyramid has many layers of pyramids deep inside.  The area is in the middle of a jungle in the state of Yucatan in Mexico.  It is pretty much in the middle of the Yucatan Peninsula.  Our bus tour took us there from Cancun on the toll road.  We went past some small villages too and saw traditional wooden huts.
