In May of 2002, I decided that it was time
to get
a new car. I had marked my one year anniversary at my current
job,
and I was making pretty good money. I wanted a 3 door sports
coupe
that had all of the luxury amenties that one expects such as a power
moonroof,
leather seats, automatic climate control, power everything, and
aluminum
alloy wheels. I got all of that and more in my 2002 Acura
RSX. Furthermore, I wanted to spend right around $26,000 out the
door for my first
new car. However, I
spent a little more than $26,000 with the extended warranty and
enhancements,
but it was worth it. This is an awesome car. I chose the
Desert Silver color with Titanium interior.
One of the nice things about Acura is the service
you get from the dealer. Since it is a luxury brand, you get TLC
(Total Luxury Care) for the first four years. That includes
roadside assistance, trip planning, and concierage benefits.
Moreover, when you bring the car in for service, you get a
complimentary loaner. Moreover, you get a standard 4 year/50,000
mile warranty instead of the usual 3 year/36,000 mile warranty you get
with non-luxury cars. The dealerships also feature nice customer
waiting lounges with complimentary snacks, beverages, Direct TV, and
leather chairs as well as complimentary computer terminals. It
spoils you. I went with a former co worker to a Chevy or
Oldsmobile dealership for his service once, and I was shocked at the
crappy waiting lounge and lack of beverages and snacks. He was
not even offered a loaner car.
The Acura was my baby since it was my first new
car. I had it detailed so often. Moreover, I only had the
Klasse German wax applied to it since it made the paint look great for
6-12 months. For the leather, I made sure that only Lexol
products touched it.
