I took Delta from Sacramento to San Antonio via Salt Lake City.
They used the EMJ smaller jets for both legs of the outbound
journey. I needed a Peet's to wake up this early on a Sunday
morning. LOL.
After arriving at the resort, we went to a great Brazilian Steakhouse
called Chama Gaucha. The waiter is preparing the "Fireball
Cheesecake" dessert for us tableside.
The waiter is swirling the glass of Licor 43 which was set on
fire. This liquor comes from Spain.
The "fireball" is poured on top of the delicious cheesecake.
The cheesecake tasted like a layer of the topping from creme brulee was
poured on top! Chama Gaucha was the best Brazilian Steakhouse
that I ever been to!
I liked the view of the Christmas lights from the balcony in my room at
the beautiful JW Marriott Texas Hill Country Resort.
The room service attendant woke me up around 9:00 AM CST with my
breakfast tray. I decided to go healthy to start off the first
day of the meetings.
The JW Marriott Texas Hill Country Resort has a nice TPC golf course on
site as well. I went for a walk along the trails after breakfast.
The golf course was really nice with the beautiful Texas Hill Country
surrounding the area.
They have PGA Tournaments at this golf course as well.
The JW Marriott Texas Hill Country Resort had a nice water park also
with a lazy river, but it was too cold to use it in December.
This was my first meeting as an Executive RBS. I was very
proud! Our day one gift was a polo shirt.
The housekeeper left a personalized note for me every day when I
returned to my room.
The sitting area of my room was really cool. I liked the elegant
yet rustic elements in the design of the rooms at the resort.
There was live music at the beach party themed dinner that night.
It was a fun evening.
Our day two gift was a Yeti. I love those things!
There was a fleet of buses to take us all to the River Walk on the 2nd
night of the meetings so we could all have dinner down there.
We went to the Alamo once we got down to the River Walk area.
The River Walk was all lit up for the holidays. We walked along
the River Walk to dinner at the Range Restaurant.
I flew back home the following day. Delta Connection's first
class seats are a little smaller on the regional jets, but they are
still comfortable.
I ordered Delta's signature prosecco with a little orange juice as my
predeparture beverage.
We were served a nice lunch after take off. I got the grilled
chicken salad. The blondie was delicious!
After lunch, I had a nice nap.
I had a Woodford Reserve and diet Coke also on the flight.
In 2019, I had a
national meeting in San Antonio, Texas. Since the meetings
started on Monday afternoon and flights from Sacramento were limited
and not able to get me to the resort in time, I had to fly in on
Sunday. It was OK. The Cowboys already played on Thursday
night that week so I did not miss my game. After getting into San
Antonio, I took a cab to the beautiful JW Marriott Texas Hill Country
Resort. After settling into my rustic yet elegant room, I was
able to check out the views of the holiday lights from my
balcony. The resort was beautiful! I went to dinner with
two colleagues that night at the amazing Chama Gaucha Brazilian
Steakhouse. This was the best Brazilian steakhouse that I have
ever been to! The food was amazing as the meat was all prime
meat. However, the service was so amazing too! We had
someone come by every few minutes and offer different sauces and
toppings to pair with the meat as well as other suggestions to make our
dining experience more memorable. For dessert, we loved the
"fireball cheesecake" which was a cheesecake with Licor 43 poured on
top. The fireball was the liquor lit on fire!
Since our meetings did not start until the
afternoon, I enjoyed my breakfast in the room before working out.
Then, I was able to take a nice walk around the golf course at the
resort. Our meetings were great, and I enjoyed doing our
community service project where we helped pack toilteries for our
troops. I think we all need to show our appreciation to our men
and women in uniform as we would not be able to enjoy our freedoms and
lives without the sacrafices they make for us. That evening, we
had a fun beach themed party with live music, margaritas, and great
food!
The next day, we had a long day of meetings, but we
got a cool Yeti was a gift. We were bused to the San Antonio
River Walk that evening where we all broke into district dinners at
various restaurants. I liked the Range where we dined a
lot. We did have time to check out the Alamo, walk along the
River Walk, and even get some drinks after dinner at a fun bar which
had live music too.
On the third of the meetings, we were only at the
resort for half of the day. We left around noon for the airport
for our departures. Delta operated a EMJ regional jet on the
flight home as well. The First Class is smaller on the regional
jets, but I had a comfortable flight back home.
