Palm Springs is an oasis in the Southern California desert near Los Angeles.  Although the temperatures can climb to 110 or above, you can take the aerial tramway (pictured above) to the San Jacinto Mountains and get away from the heat.  I had some Hilton Honors Rewards Points I had to redeem back in 2005 so I took my family out to the Palm Springs Hilton for Fourth of July weekend.  We were upgraded as usual to a nice room on the pool level, but my brother and I almost burned our feet walking out from our patio to the pool area since the concrete was so hot.  I went back to Palm Springs in 2017 to ring the new year also!  We stayed at the Doubletree Golf Resort during that visit.
