Here is a picture of some of my YAF members from UC Davis at the Young
America's Foundation Conservative Student Conference in San Diego,
California.
I was the Founding Chairman of our YAF chapter. I had an army of
45
hard
core conservatives to help me fight the arrogant liberals on
campus.
(FROM LEFT TO RIGHT) Jeremy, Allan, Laura, Me, and Ivan. Allan
was
my Executive Director, and he is one of my best friends.
Conservative
leaders such as Dinesh D'Sousa, Ralph Reed, and Starr Parker were at
this
event. These conferences helped train us to be more effective
leaders,
and they gave us the skills to fight the leftists on campus.
I learned an important lesson at this conference
from Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA 46). Congressman
Rohrabacher said that you must always stand up to "bullies" whether it
be in politics, in the work place, in your school, or anywhere in
life. If you let someone push you around and always submit to it,
you will always be pushed around. However, if you are assertive
and you stand up for your beliefs and rights at all times, people will
(1) know they can not push you around and (2) they will respect you as
a person. They may not respect you at that moment or even
the next day, week, or month, but they will respect you for standing up
for yourself. I have used this lesson numerous times in my life
to show people that I am ANIRBAN ROY, and I will not back down for what
is right and for what I stand for.
