Here is the starting line ups for the
White Sox @ Rangers game during our first day at Spring Training.
My Rangers are warming up here in Surprise, AZ.
Newly acquired infielder Asdrubal Cabrera is on deck as Joey Gallo is
at bat.
Former Dodgers Infielder Logan Forsythe is making his way to the plate
here. The Rangers signed him to a minor league deal and invited
him to camp this year.
My buddies Chad and Bob are here with me at the game. I kept
telling Bob not to wear that hat. LOL. The A's suck!
I bid on and won a football autographed by former Cowboys FB Daryl "The
Moose" Johnston at the game. The proceeds go to a good cause also.
We got to see Infielder Ronald Guzman up close as he took batting
practice at the Surprise Stadium also.
Guzman is the 1st baseman for the Rangers.
We went to Cholla Prime Steak House at Arizona Casino in Scottsdale for
dinner on that first night. This was actually a decent bottle of
wine that we picked out for us.
We were served a sorbet course as well to cleanse the pallet between
our amuse course and the main course.
I ordered the filet mignon and grilled shrimp for my main course.
We watched the Giants play the As the next day in Mesa. I hate
both teams, but I hate the As even more so I rooted for the Giants.
We played a little golf...um...Top Golf I mean in Scottsdale on Monday.
Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport has therapy dogs that anyone can pet.
"Misty" was a nice dog.
We had to go to
Spring Training a little earlier in 2019 because my buddy wanted to see
his As play before they went to Japan for the rest of Spring
Training. However, our first game of this trip was the
best! We got to see my Texas Rangers take on the White Sox.
We got good weather for most of the trip however. I ended up
bidding on an autographed Daryl Johnston football too, and I won
it! Daryl Johnston was the Cowboys FB from the glory years of the
1990s when we won three Superbowls! It was $125, but the proceeds
go to a great cause.
For dinner, we tried a new steakhouse in Scottsdale
called Cholla Prime Steakhouse. The service and food was
excellent. The staff brought us warm towels to wash our hands as
we sat down. After selecting a bottle of wine, the waitress
brought us an amuse compliments of the chef. Afterwards, we
enjoyed a raspberry sorbet to cleanse the pallet as our entrees were
being prepared. The steak was not bad at all. They even
gave us macarons after the dessert when the check was brought to us.
I had to watch the crappy A's on Sunday since my
buddy is an A's fan. Afterwards, we tried a great restaurant in
Tempe called Ghost Ranch with a buddy of mine who worked at my company
before he retired and his family. That night, we partied in Tempe
by Mill Avenue. It was a little slow since it was a Sunday night.
We went to Top Golf on Monday, and I ended up
finishing first! For a while, I was scoring on almost every
drive! Another great Spring Training trip was in the books after
we got to pet a therapy dog at the airport and fly home.
