I headed out to Phoenix
in March for my annual trip to go see my Texas Rangers at Spring
Training for the Cactus League. Two of my buddies went down with
me from Sacramento, and I had a friend from San Diego meet me in
Phoenix. We got in too late to do anything on the first night so
we just chilled at the hotel. The next morning, we headed out to
Surprise, AZ for the first game. My buddies want to get
some pizza and wings at a famous Phoenix chain called Oregano's.
Afterwards, we saw my Rangers beat the lowly A's. That evening,
we had a nice dinner at a cajun seafood restaurant in North Phoenix
before calling it a night. We are getting old! In the past,
we would have gone out to ASU and partied with the college kids.
LOL.
The next day, we went
to the Cubs at A's game in Mesa. I was able to see former Rangers
pitcher Yu Darvish pitch for a few innings. I rooted for the
Cubbies since I hate the A's so bad! We ended up having a good
dinner at Houston's in Scottsdale that night. They have a strict
dress code. We checked out some bars in the Scottsdale area after
dinner.
On Monday, we saw the
Rangers take on the Indians at the Indians ballpark in Goodyear.
I got there early to watch the warmups. It was so cool watching
the pitchers warm up up close. The weather was great too.
We got club seats where a waitress brought us our food and drink
also. Afterwards, we had dinner at Cracker Barrel before getting
a snack at Tilted Kilt in downtown Phoenix. Our flight back to
Sacramento was that night.
