Joy and I liked seeing the artwork by the kids at Ronald McDonald House
on the flight to Boise. We donate to them!
The Fastbreak upgrade put us in this big SUV with three rows at Boise
Airport. LOL. We did not need all that space.
Joy and I went to Twin Peaks by Boise Spectrum for lunch. It
is hard to go wrong with deer heads on the wall and good bar food!
We went across the street to Boise Spectrum after lunch to get
huckleberry ice cream which is famous in Idaho.
We went shopping after we checked into our hotel, and we saw this cool
truck asking Californians to go home! The FJB sticker is cool
too!
We headed to downtown Boise for dinner. It is so much cleaner
and safer than Sacramento or any Calfornia downtown!
We went to Bone Fish Grill in downtown Boise for dinner.
I started out with a smoked old fashioned.
I ordered a blackened fish with crab on top. It was delicious!
We went to the Stil for some homemade ice cream with alcohol infused in
it! This flavor is called Ed+Carl Take Reno (which has honey
bourbon)!
We went to our favorite country bar in downtown called Dirty Roddy's.
When I saw they had Goldschalger, I had to take a shot since
we used to drink this in college.
It is time to drink up since there are sober people in Utah?
LOL.
The cute Boise State bartenders were mixing a lot of those blue drinks
known as AMFs. They are strong! I did not have one!
We went to the Whiskey Bar after Roddy's for one more drink.
We had a nice drive to Sun Valley the next morning.
Here is the horse drawn sleigh at the Sun Valley Inn where we stayed on
this trip.
The luxury SUV shuttle took us to the Sun Valley Nordic Center from the
Inn after we checked in.
Joy and I loved the nordic trails at Sun Valley as usual!
It is hard to beat the beautiful views while cross country skiing in
Sun Valley!
I enjoyed my usual Pendleton Whiskey and a fresh baked cookie as my
Apres Ski treat at the Sun Valley Club!
We saw that they upgraded us again this year to one of the rooms with a large balcony in Sun Valley! I love being a VIP!
There were some nice views from our balcony including one of the pool
area. I used the heated pool after we got back to the Inn.
We went to get drinks at an appetizer at the Ram Bar at the Sun Valley Inn after I got back from the pool.
The Sun Valley SUV took us over to dinner at the Ketchum Grill. These icicles were amazing!
I enjoyed my meatloaf a lot!
My friend suggested I put a B&W filter on the picture of the icicles.
We enjoyed breakfast the next morning at the Konditorei Bakery in Sun Valley.
We got some pastries also after breakfast.
We walked over to the Sun Valley Lodge after checking out to see if the ice skating rink was open.
They took us over to the Sun Valley Club for lunch in the usual SUV. I love being driven around like a VIP.
The views from the Sun Valley Club are amazing!
The Duck Confit egg rolls were amazing!
The enchilidas were amazing!
Joy and I stayed in Twin Falls on the last night of the trip. This is the famous bridge over the Snake River Gorge.
We went to Elevation 486 for dinner in Twin Falls. The views were amazing!
We had great views from our table too.
I got the signature quail dish for dinner.
We went to Stella's for ice cream after dinner. This was delicious! Stella's original location is near Boise.
I was able to see an old friend of mine who I had not seen in about twenty years when we got back to Boise.
Our usual car service sent the black Mercedes to get us this time we
landed into Sacramento. I love having money! LOL.
President's Day 2023
meant that it was time for Joy and I to head to Sun Valley, Idaho
again! We both love the peaceful tranquility and winter scenery
of Sun Valley. This year, we ended up staying in Boise the first
night so we could party with the Boise State students. LOL.
We went to Twin Peaks for lunch once we landed. After a
nice dinner in downtown Boise, Joy and I went to Dirty Roddy's for some
drinks. The attractice bartender ladies poured me some
Goldschalger and some Don Julio 1942 before we headed to the Whiskey
Bar for one more drink. It was cold as we walked around downtown
Boise, but it was very fun! I almost forgot! We found a
homemade ice cream shop called the Stil. I loved the alcohol
infused ice cream!
We headed to Sun Valley the next morning. The
roads were clear as they did not have much snow in Idaho that year
unlike California. We stopped at a great burger joint in Hailey
for lunch before checking in at the Sun Valley Inn. The valet
took the rental SUV, and we had them drive us over to the Sun Valley
Club, which is home to the Nordic Center. I love the attention
that one gets from the staff in Sun Valley. The people at the
rental area made sure we had the best equipment for our height.
Afterwards, we headed out on he beautiful groomed trails. I
love nordic skiing, and I have gotten really good at it. Joy was
still picking it up. I told her to keep her weight forward when
coming down a hill to slow down. After skiing, we enjoyed the
apres ski experience at the Sun Valley Club. I got my usual
whiskey drink with a fresh baked cookie!
Once we were driven back to the Sun Valley Inn in
the luxury SUV, I saw that we got upgraded again to a nice balcony room
at the resort! Only a few rooms had the balconies, and I think
they know we come each year so they put us in one of those rooms with
an amazing view! I went to use the heated pool after checking in.
Joy and I enjoyed drinks and an appetizer at the Ram Bar before
dinner at the Ketchum Grill. One of the staff members drove us
there in the SUV. The Ketchum Grill was packed, and the food was
delicious. It was upscale comfort food. The icicles outside
the restaurant were quite impressive!
The next morning, we had our usual breakfast at the
Konditorei, which is an Austrian style bakery. Joy got a chance
to buy some high end winter apparel too at one of the shops.
Afterwards, we had them take us to the Sun Valley Club for lunch.
The best part of the lunch is that fresh baked chocolate chip
cookie!
We drove to Twin Falls next since it is a little
closer to Boise so we decided to spend the night there. I made
reservations for us at Elevation 486 for dinner. The views were
amazing, but I loved their signature quail dish! After dinner, we
enjoyed some homemade ice cream at Stella's!
I was able to catch up with an old friend of mine
when we got back to Boise before flying home. My buddy, James, is
a store director for a major grocery store in Boise. I had not
seen him in over twenty years!
