My March Madness of Travel continued on March 31st as the car service
driver here takes my luggage out to the car since we were heading to
Texas! I had my boots and a cowboy hat in there!
I had to wear my new Baseballism Texas Rangers hoodie that I got in
Arizona for the flight to Dallas Love Field!
We were slightly delayed getting into Dallas Love Field, but the rental
car company had a nice Alfa Romeo Guilia waiting for us!
Hee yaw! I am ready to take the rear wheel drive Guila out to
my friend's family ranch out in Palo Pinto County!
The Alfa Romeo drove well, but I could tell it was not a well built
car. I like our Volvo S60R Design better. We
actually
looked into this Alfa Romeo model when we got the Volvo!
We drove out from Las Colinas where we spent the night at the Hyatt
Place to the ranch which was west of the D/FW Metroplex on Saturday!
We saw a Braum's on the way in Weatherford so we had to stop for ice
cream and a shake! I grew up on Braum's dairy products, which
are
made in Oklahoma!
This cute goat greeted us once we got to the main ranch house.
The ranch house had an amazing deck overlooking the Brazos River.
My friend's dad took us out on a tour of the large ranch via the
Kawasaki Gator!
We saw some of the red angus cattle they had on the ranch. This reminds me of the opening scene from Dallas.
Joy and I got to climb up on the hay bales too at the ranch.
"John Ross" and "Elena" enjoying "South Fork" here. LOL.
JR Ewing Roy? LOL. I loved the gas wells they had
on the ranch since I am a strong supporter of fossil fuels!
We went down to the Brazos River also. The river was so calm!
I am swinging on their back porch watching the river in my boots!
Like John Anderson sings, "I am a Swinging." LOL.
Nothing like watching the sun go down at a Texas ranch with a Texas
beer!
Our awesome hosts had plenty of Texas BBQ for us for dinner!
Happy 40th birthday to my friend Ginny! Her family is so
awesome and welcoming!
I got a Texas craft soda from Dublin, Texas at the Rickhouse Brewery at
our hotel, the Crazy Water Hotel as a night cap!
We stayed at the historic boutique hotel, the Crazy Water in Mineral
Wells, Texas.
After I got my amazing coffee at the Crazy Water Coffee Bar, I thought
I should post on this Texas style bike. More on Crazy Water
later...
We went to the Happy Day's Cafe for breakfast which is right next to
the Crazy Water Hotel.
The cafe looked like a diner from the 1950s! It was cool!
I know Texas pancakes are big since everything is bigger in Texas so I
only got one of them!
We drove out to the main ranch house after breakfast to meet our
friends for the yacht trip on Possum Kingdom Lake.
Most of the roads on the ranch are gravel so I was a little worried
about taking the rear wheel drive Alfa Romeo on them.
As we departed on a small convoy from the ranch, I got this nice
picture of a gas well with horses in the background. Can you tell
I love fossil fuels! Fuck the liberals for wanting to take away
the best source of energy we have!
Once we got to Possum Kingdom Lake, the yacht was arriving for our
large party.
Possum Kingdom Lake has amazing homes on the shores. There is
a lot more money in Texas than shitty California!
The boat cruise was cool. My friend had custom coozies for us
too!
This passage beween the rocks is known as Hell's Gate. In the
distance, that house has a Texas Flag painted on the roof!
I love the Texas State Flag! We are the only state that can
fly our flag at the same mast as the US flag!
The weather was beautiful! The theme for guys was to wear
Hawaiian shirts.
Joy and I loved the cruise with our friends!
After the cruise, we had a late lunch at Hemmingway's which is by the
marina at Possum Kingdom Lake.
I got a Texas Old Fashioned which had a candied pecan inside.
This is a good shot of the Cales with us at the ranch overlooking the
beautiful Texas landscape!
We went out to get some Blue Bell Ice Cream later that night!
The coffee was so smooth at the Crazy Water Bar that I had to get my
iced Americano there in the morning again!
Joy even found a bike to pose with in the Crazy Water Pavillion.
We stopped to see the famous Crazy Water wells and store before we left Mineral Wells.
One can taste the different levels of Crazy Water before buying the bottles at the store. I liked "3" the best.
Heim BBQ in Ft. Worth was amazing! We had lunch there after
leaving Mineral Wells!
One has to get banana pudding with the delicious Texas brisket!
We headed to the Fort Worth Stock Yards after our great BBQ lunch!
Down Mule Alley, there is a cool Ariat store! I had to get
another Ariat t shirt for country concerts.
The Coliseum hosts Professional Bull Riders and other rodeo events.
This was inside the Coliseum. I had to wear my Jason Aldean
style cowboy hat!
This is the inside of the coliseum.
Joy got up close and personal with a longhorn!
I felt like a candy cigarette so I got one at the candy store.
Joy and I are ready to go into the World's Largest Honky Tonk in Ft Worth!
Billy Bob's was pretty empty since it was a weekday afternoon when we were there.
I am looking onto the main stage at Billy Bob's here with my Texas whiskey.
Billy Bob's has hand prints of the stars who visit the club. These are Dierk's Bentley's hands.
Later that day, we went to Arlington to watch the Rangers play, but we went to the amazing Texas Live! first!
Texas Live! is a large scale entertainment complex with restaurants and
bars so fans can go before and after Rangers and Cowboys games!
Joy and I were amazed at how cool Texas Live! was! The liberals
in California would never allow people to build such amazing
structures! We love Texas!
Joy and I got a snack and drinks at Troy's! Yeah! This is Troy Aikman's restaurant at Texas Live! Crazy!
Here is a cool view of AT&T Stadium from Texas Live! Arlington is just an amazing place! I love Texas!
The retractable roof at Globe Life Field reminded me of Seattle's
ballpark a little. Good luck trying to build this cool park in a
liberal state like California! LOL.
Time to go inside and watch the Rangers who just swept the Phillies in the season opener take on the Orioles!
The roof was closed since it was in the 90s that day! The park is
fully air conditioned! The liberal nuts in California would never
allow that!
Joy and I got Blue Bell Ice Cream sundaes in the Rangers helmets! Yay!
Joy and I are posing by our seats in the 114 section of the ballpark here.
The seats were right behind homeplate!
I spotted Hannah Wing, our broadcast girl for the local station in
Texas so we had to get a selfie! I am wearing my deGrom jersey as
well as the Rangers Spring Training hat!
Time to play ball with starting pitcher Jon Gray on the mound!
We got certificates that this was our first game at Globe Life Field!
We went to Tipsy Oak for a late dinner after the game with some friends.
Joy and I went to the "Star" in Frisco the next day to tour of the
World Headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys! This is the Ford Center!
The Cowboys Walk of Fame was cool! Here is Aikman's number!
88 is a famous number for our great receivers. This one is for Drew Pierson however.
Joy and I went to a craft coffee shop called Ascension at the Star for
a snack that morning. We do not have any nice places like this
out in the Sacramento area.
I loved the guava "pop tart" that paired well with my craft espresso based drink!
We went to lunch at Ida Claire's in Addison which is a down home
Southern inspired Cajun restaurant. The bird cages on the ceiling
were cool.
I got the chicken and waffles. That gravy was amazing! Normally, I do not like gravy too.
We met another friend of mine in the DFW area at Ida Claire's.
I took Joy to the amazing Dallas Galleria after lunch in Addison.
My family stayed at that Westin hotel which one can see rising up
when we first moved to Dallas.
The Dallas Galleria has an ice skating rink too! There is not enough money in California to sustain these amazing malls!
To finish off my
"March Madness" of travel in 2023, Joy and I left for the Dallas/Ft.
Worth Metroplex on March 31st to attend a 40th birthday party for my
friend, Ginny. Her family owns a large ranch in West Texas out in
Palo Pinto County so we were invited to attend a weekend of fun
activities at the ranch and surrounding area. Her dad is an
elected official too in Texas so it was great to discuss Texas
Republican politics with him as we toured the massive ranch!
After arriving at Dallas Love Field Airport, the rental car agent
presented me with the Alfa Romeo Guilia upgrade, and we were off to Las
Colinas to spend the night since we arrived late into the Metroplex.
On Saturday, we headed out to the ranch, but we
stopped to get some ice cream at Braum's when we saw one in
Weatherford. I grew up on Braum's Oklahoma dairy products so it
brought back great childhood memories! Texas is just an amazing
state! I have so many cool memories of growing up there.
Once we got to the ranch, my friend came down to the entrance
where the large bunk house is to pick us up since the roads leading to
the main house are gravel and confusing. We left the Alfa Romeo
out there. The ranch house was recently built, and the three
story atrium with a spiral staircase was amazing. Also, there was
an elevator too! The wrap around large deck had great views of
the Brazos River too!
We headed out to tour the ranch after lunch on the
Gator. Her dad took us to see the red angus cattle on the ranch
first. Then, we went to play on the hay bales! I was able
to get some awesome pictures of a gas well too. Fossil Fuels are
still the life blood of the economy! Liberals need to stop their
war on Fossil Fuels! We went down to the river afterwards.
They told us to watch out for rattlesnakes, but they did keep the
grasses mowed down so it was easy to spot one. However, we did
not see any. For dinner, we had a great Texas BBQ with plenty of
meat! The sunset over the Brazos River capped off a great day at
the ranch!
The next morning, Joy and I enjoyed breakfast at the
Happy Days Cafe which is next to our historic boutique hotel, the Crazy
Water. They also have great coffee in the Crazy Water Pavillion.
Crazy Water is the mineral water that is naturally found in
Mineral Wells. Rumor has it this water helped cure a "crazy
woman" of her mental disease. There are four levels of water with
Level 4 having the highest mineral content. The three wells vary
in depth so that is why the mineral content varies. Their "1" is
just reverse osmosis water of "2" so most of the minerals are not
present. We headed out to the
ranch afterwards since we were all meeting there before going out to
Possum Kingdom Lake. They rented a nice yacht to go cruising on
the large lake. On board, they had fresh baked cookies and other
snacks for us as well as a birthday cake for Ginny. Going through
"Hells Gate" at the lake was fun. The rock formation was just
amazing. On the banks of the lake were very expensive large
homes. Texas has so much money! California is just a
homeless wasteland mostly. Joy and I were amazed at how clean
Texas was compared to California. Also, they do not allow the
large homeless camps like out in the Golden State.
We had a great late lunch at Hemingway's after the
cruise on the lake. I had to get a Texas Old Fashioned since I
was in the Lone Star after all! Life seems way more laid back and
relaxed in Texas. People just enjoy their lives and do not worry
about stupid left wing bull shit like in California. Covid was
addressed properly in Texas so small businesses did not have to close
like in California. It is sick how Newsom killed off the pathetic
state of California with the Covid bull shit regulations.
On Monday, we went to Ft. Worth so I could show
Joy
the Stockyards. It was a hot day too! The temperature was
over 90! We also got good BBQ that day for lunch at Heim BBQ in
Ft. Worth. After checking into our hotel in Arlington, we were
ready to go check out the cool Texas Live! complex. This area by
the Globe Life Field has lots of cool bars and restaurants! We
had a snack at Troy's, which is Aikman's bar and restaurant. It
was so cool to check out the huge TV screens all over the complex.
Only in Texas can people build such amazing sports themed venues!
Joy and I walked around outside too check out AT&T Stadium
from a distance also.
We were so amazed at the new Rangers ballpark called
Globe Life Field. The indoor ballpark has a retractable roof too.
Since it was so hot, the roof was closed with the A/C pumping in!
We met two of our friends out there for the game. Joy and I
walked around the massive facility and got a selfie too with our
broadcast girl, Hannah! My Rangers started off the season by
sweeping the NL Champion Phillies! So, I was excited to see them
take on the Orioles! Jon Gray was on the mound for us that day.
I had my new deGrom jersey on also. We did lose the game,
but it was very close.
On Tuesday, we went to Frisco to tour the Star,
which is the world headquarters of the Cowboys! This was amazing
too! I do not think any California football team can afford such
a nice facility. Also, the enviromental freaks in Calfornia would
not allow such a project! After touring the facility and buying a
lot of stuff at the Cowboys Pro Shop, we went to Addison to meet my
friend for lunch at Ida Claire's. The Southern inspired food was
delicious! I took Joy to the Dallas Galleria afterwards to show
her the mall where I used to shop for my $50-60 Z Cavaricci pants back
in middle school since Plano, Texas is a very wealthy area where the
kids had to wear these designer pants! LOL.
